Marshawn Kneeland died on Nov. 5, 2025, at age 24. The Dallas Cowboys announced his passing on Nov. 6, expressing their sorrow and offering thoughts and prayers to his girlfriend and family. His agent said he was "shattered" and noted Kneeland died about 48 hours after a standout game in which he recovered a blocked punt and scored a touchdown; later reports said he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a pursuit north of Dallas.
Following his death, the team confirmed Mancera was pregnant and established the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund to assist her and the unborn child. Mancera previously posted tributes and requests for photos of Kneeland as she gathered memories and thanked supporters for their kindness.
