Earlier the King joined Idris Elba for National Youth Music Theatre events. Elba, who used a grant from the former Prince's Trust at 18 to attend NYMT, met students in workshops, watched performances and posed for photos with participants.
At the palace party a playful scene saw Elba and Christian St. Louis testing the King’s turntable skills, prompting laughter when a beat sounded after the King pressed a button. In speeches the King reflected on five decades of investment in young people, calling it a proud moment and praising a "virtuous circle" of past beneficiaries supporting the next generation, while acknowledging he "won't see the long-distance future."
